Mini IVF
Mini IVF is a form of stimulated IVF where lower doses of hormones are given for a shorter period of time
What is Mini IVF?
Mini IVF refers to the minimal hormone stimulation involved in treatment. Essentially, lower doses of hormone drugs are used for a shorter period of time. The process and steps involved are similar to conventional IVF.
How does it work?
The steps involved in Mini IVF may vary from patient to patient depending on our recommended treatment plan but typically involve:
5-10 days of ovarian stimulation with hormone injections or tablets. Medication types and doses are carefully monitored with regular ultrasound scans and blood tests throughout this stage.
On the final day of ovarian stimulation (usually 36 hours prior to egg collection) an HCG ‘trigger shot’ injection is given to mature your eggs.
Egg collection is performed under mild sedation, typically on the same day as sperm collection.
Insemination (where egg and sperm are brought together for fertilisation) or ICSI typically occurs on the same day as egg collection.
Embryo transfer happens 2-5 days after egg collection, depending on the number and quality of embryos.
A pregnancy blood test happens approx. 14 days after egg collection.
Who is Mini IVF for?
Mini IVF is ideal for women who:
May be prone to OHSS (Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome)
Prefer to take lower doses of hormone medications in a stimulated cycle
