Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP is used to promote the repair and regeneration of reproductive organs in both women and men
What is PRP?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets prepared from a patient’s fresh blood using a centrifuge process. PRP contains growth factors and has been in existence for many years. More recently, the benefits of PRP are being realised in fertility treatment.
How does it work?
PRP stimulates cell re-growth. Within fertility treatment at Bourn Hall, PRP is used to:
- Thicken the lining of the womb
- Revitalise ovarian tissue
- Revitalise testes tissue
Who is PRP for?
PRP may be appropriate for:
- Women with chronic endometriosis
- Women requiring a boost in endometrial thickness (lining of the womb) prior to embryo transfer
- Couples experiencing recurrent embryo implantation failure
- Older women with poor egg quality
